Bertelsen - CrosbyNiels Christian BERTELSEN born in Denmark, settled in Manistee, MI in the 1870s. Married Sarah CROSBY, daughter of William CROSBY born in England and Eliza HENRI (married in New York). They were all farmers; Sarah taught school in Portage. Her father William Crosby served in the Civil War, in the Michigan Calvary, Company K.Son Prentiss Bertelsen studied bookkeeping and moved south to Detroit in search of employment. Daughter, Blanche was a Army Nurse and served in World War I.
