Village of Neuville

The first inhabitants came to this area in 1667.   In 1680, the seigniory was acquired by Nicolas Dupont Sieur (Landlord) de Neuville and was called Seigniory of Neuville / Pointe aux Trembles   (named as per a St-Lawrence river point land covered with aspen trees). From 1683, seigniory became the third most populated village of Nouvelle France with its 372 inhabitants.  Today it houses a population of more than 4,000 and contains many historic homes.
