Langlois Family Plays Big Part in Border History

Highly Regarded

When he died [Dr. Langlois], Le Progres, a French paper founded by the late Gaspard Pacaud and published in Windsor from 1880 until 1907, printed a long obituary of him. The following is a paragraph: "He was a man of pure heart and generous opinions. He loved everybody and was loved by everybody. … We know of a great many people who know his inexhaustible charity, his devotedness, and that kindly disposition which made him forget his own sorrows in desire to render succor to others."

Dr. O.X. Langlois left two children, Rev. Wilfrid D. Langlois and Mother Marie Rosalie de la Palerme. Fr. Langlois was born in Windsor, November 24, 1890. He was educated at Assumption College, Sandwich, and at the Montreal Seminary. He is now parish priest of St. Rose De Lima, Riverside. He is also Chaplain of L'Association St. Jean Baptiste of Western Ontario. Mother Rosalie was born July 4, 1886.

The ramifications of the Langlois embrace many prominent Border families. To name but a few: Pajot, Parent, Labadie, St. Louis, Beausolell, Montreuil, Bensette, Nantais, Leduc, Pratt, Janisse, Fortier, Baby, O'Neil, Ryan, Ouellette, Reaume, Gignac, Meloche, Twomey, Mathews, Lappan, Dufresen, Labutte and others.
