The Sunflower

Most everyone has some memories of growing
sunflowers. As a child you are simply amazed at how
tall they are. Then come those giant sunflower heads. They are
gigantic! Yes, they are something special. After
we took this picture of the kids holding the head, we allowed
the birds to have a feast by devouring the
seeds. |
I recall playing golf up near Ostego, Michigan
at the Hidden Valley Resort several years back. We
passed a large field of sunflowers grown as a crop -- what a
beautiful sight. They stood at attention -- facing the
warm sun -- awaiting further instructions. After our
round of golf, we drove passed the same field and yes, they
all had turned their heads around in the opposite
direction. What attentive plants!
