We thought we would share some of our opinions regarding a few of the golf courses we have played.

2003

Golf Highlights

The Fortress

Sign up for the golf and chicken dinner package!  It is a great combo.  Dave and I played there in September and we had a perfect day.  The golf course was in superb condition and I even managed a couple of birdies on the back nine.  The women's tees were very generous and I found the length of the course no problem.  Dave did have his best golfing day -- he was in trouble most of the time.  Golf and cart cost only $45 and you can't beat that.

2002  St. Ives

No were are not in Scotland, nor is this a whiskey but it is a charming course in the middle of the lower peninsula in Stanwood.  You do have to have a map to find it - it is off the main highways, but it is a pleasant course to play.

We played the course in mid-September while on our way up to Manistee to do some family research.  We arrived at the club just a little before the onset of twilight rates -- so Dave being the good Dane he is, decided to wait and tee off at twilight rates.  We have found this to be a good way to save some money since we are too young for senior rates.  While we were hanging about the Pro Shop waiting, we happened upon the end of season clothing discount table.  After piling up all the clothing we bought, needless to say -- I'm doubtful that we saved any money on the twilight rate -- but at least we now have new clothes featuring the St. Ives logo.

The course itself, is really not worth the regular course price - it is a good value at the Senior rates or Twilight rates.  This is a very popular course, they also have a sister course called Tullymore,  You will need tee times during the busy summer.    more info -  www.stivesgolf.com

Don't waste your money
